Eastbound Highway 84 at the intersection of Palomares and Niles Canyon roads reopened to traffic around 10:55 a.m., nearly two hours after the collision was reported, according to the CHP.
The two-vehicle head-on collision involving an SUV and a pickup truck was reported on Highway 84 near Pleasanton Sunol Road around 9:15 a.m., CHP Officer Ron Simmons said.
The CHP issued a Sig-Alert at 9:35 a.m. and shut down both eastbound and westbound sides of the roadway in the area.
The extent of injuries suffered by other people involved in the crash was not immediately known.
