Singer Michelle Shocked: 'I'm not homophobic'

Several venues cancelled her shows including Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz where Shocked staged a one-woman protest last week. Her banter with the audience on March 17 at Yoshi's included an expletive for gays.

Monday night, she appeared on CNN's Piers Morgan Show and eventually answered the question whether her comments were homophobic. "Absolutely not," she said when asked if she was not homophonic. "If you want to keep this simple for the audience, let me just give you a straight no. I'm not homophobic, but I don't think the truth lies in the simplicity. I think it's in the nuance and I think that's been completely lost."

Shocked said she's in favor of gay marriage and regrets the incident.
