Oakland's pothole filling 'blitz' gets underway today

OAKLAND, Calif.

The project will kick off this week on Claremont Avenue between Clifton and Hudson streets. The work will then move to a new location each week until June 26, officials said.

During last year's "blitz," crews filled 2,800 potholes throughout the city. This year, the goal is to fill more than 3,000, public works officials said.

The focus will be on busy traffic corridors, areas around schools and hospitals, spots with a lot of foot traffic and problem streets in general, according to public works.

Residents can report potholes online at www.oaklandpw.com, by emailing pwacallcenteroaklandnet.com or by calling (510) 615-5566.
