Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by car

BERKELEY, Calif.

At 8:23 p.m., police received a report that a person had been hit near the intersection of 10th Street and University Avenue, spokeswoman Jennifer Coats said.

The male pedestrian was taken to a hospital and remained in critical condition this morning, Coats said.

She said the driver of the car involved is cooperating with investigators, who are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
