The fire, which was highly visible from nearby Interstate Highway 880, burned at 621 Harrison St., the dispatcher said.
The three-story house, which is vacant, was the site of another two-alarm fire in January. A fire official said squatters have been known to frequent the building.
The cause of today's fire remains under investigation.
