Vitamin IV drip trend raising safety concerns

Advocates say it infuses the body with vitamins straight into your veins. Celebrities reported to be using it include Simon Cowell, Cindy Crawford, and Madonna. Now, some ordinary people are even going to private clinics on their lunch breaks.

Doctors who administer liquid vitamins say they can battle chronic fatigue, depression, and anxiety. "This is a way to give much higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. So, the body has all the building blocks and can respond to the stresses of day to day life," Dr. Jeffrey Morrison said.

However, critics call it extreme and unnecessary, questioning whether it offers anything nutritious that food or traditional vitamins cannot. And, it's not cheap, costing $130 to $275 per session.
