Abandoned dogs from Dubai find new homes in Bay Area

The greyhound-saluki hybrids arrived at San Francisco International Airport Thursday afternoon. They were rescued from the desert and the streets of Dubai and turned over to Greyhound Friends for Life, a rescue organization based in Northern California.

Salukis are native to the Middle East and are normally highly prized, but these dogs show multiple signs of abuse.

The rescue organization says the dogs were likely used as race dogs and then abandoned when they stopped winning.
