Murder suspect fatally shot by SWAT team in Sunnyvale; body of woman found in home

SUNNYVALE, Calif.

The person called police around 8 a.m. and said the crime had occurred inside his home in the 600 block of San Pedro Ave., Capt. Dave Pitts said.

Police, including a SWAT team, have surrounded the residence.

At 8:53 a.m., a SWAT vehicle was driven onto the front yard of the home. Roughly 10 SWAT officers wearing bulletproof vests then approached the front of the home.

A few moments later, a voice could be heard on a loudspeaker saying "Come out with your hands up," almost immediately followed by what sounded like at least five gunshots in rapid succession.

After the shots were fired, several officers who had been waiting nearby ran toward the home. Moments later, the officers were seen walking back to where they had been.

Authorities have evacuated some nearby homes and are advising other residents to shelter in place, Pitts said.

The area is shut down to motorists and pedestrians, he said.
