Parents call school recess policy 'pornographic'

SAN FRANCISCO

Students at Navigator Elementary School in Rancho Cordova are told to "freeze" at the end of recess and assume a position where they put their hands on their knees. Parents don't like it. They call the position victimizing and say it's almost pornographic.

They want the district to do away with the practice. "My daughter is bent over and assumed this position. She could be like that for 10 minutes, until you get kids to bend over and freeze," parent Heather Neuman said.

School officials say the position is supposed to calm kids down and make the walk back to class more orderly. The district says it will modify the "freeze position" to address the outcry.
