VTA light-rail service affected after train strikes car

SAN JOSE

Just after 9 a.m., a light-rail vehicle struck a two-passenger car at North First Street and Skyport Drive, VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.

The two people in the car were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known, Childress said.

No one aboard the train was hospitalized, she said.

Buses are in place between the Civic Center and Karina stations and no light-rail service is available between the two stations. Childress said the service disruption is expected to last until around 11 a.m.
