For Star Wars fans, there has been a lot of speculation about what direction the series will take ever since Disney announced in October 2012 that it would buy Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion and resume making "Star Wars" movies, starting with Episode 7 in 2015. Star Wars fans, strap on a light saber and watch out for those Jedi mind tricks.

The next episode of the Star Wars saga now has an official release date -- December 18, 2015.

That's the date announced by Disney for Star Wars Episode 7, the first film in the saga to be released since Disney, the parent company of ABC7, purchased LucasFilm last year.

Shooting for Episode 7 is scheduled to begin next spring. For those counting at home, it will be released in a mere 770 days.
