Model uses celebrity status to raise awareness about landmines

A young Bay Area woman is using her celebrity status as a top New York fashion model to raise awareness about something most people don't think of: landmines.

Kyleigh Kuhn is from San Rafael and is one of the faces of the Gap Holiday 2013 ad campaign. She co-founded the Roots of Peace Children's Penny Campaign to remove landmines in war-torn countries.

The money that has been raised through Kuhn's Roots of Peace Children's Penny Campaign has not only been used to build new schools in Afghanistan, but to remove landmines and build soccer fields in one Afghan neighborhood.
