California lawmakers collect 5.3 percent pay raise

California lawmakers are starting this work week with a pay raise. The 5.3 percent salary increase was approved by a citizen's panel in June.

The salaries of the state legislature will go from $90,000 a year to more than $95,000. Governor Jerry Brown's pay goes from $165,000 to nearly $174,000 a year.

About a dozen legislators say they won't take the raise because they just increased taxes on Californians.
