Loretta Fuddy was the director of the Hawaii state health department. She was on her annual trip to the Hawaiian leprosy colony when the plane crashed off Molokai. Eight others onboard survived. Fuddy made headlines during the election two years ago when so called "birthers" were questioning where the president was born.
