A new state population report shows more people moved to Alameda and Santa Clara counties than any other counties in the state.

The California Department of Finance says Alameda County saw more than 15,000 newcomers last year, bringing the county's population to just over 1.5 million.

Santa Clara County was not far behind, with 11,500 new residents in one year. That bumps its population to more than 1.8 million.
