Students' social media experiment finds scary results

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.

Students used people's Twitter accounts to find out where they would be, then accessed the person's profile to find out more about them.

The students pretended to be psychics, calling people they had never met by their first names, then telling them something only friends should know. Then, they let people in on the secret – they found out everything from people's Twitter and social media accounts.

The students demonstrated how incredibly easy it is for total strangers to learn someone's personal information just from social media.
