Crews spent Wednesday putting the finishing touches on the exhibit hall and driving vehicles into the newly expanded San Jose McEnery Convention Center.
Organizers say this year's cars are filled with cutting edge technology, including the BMW i3, an all-electric vehicle made with mostly recycled materials.
There are 50 different models available for test drives.
The show runs Thursday through Sunday.
