Stamp dedicated to Shirley Chisholm unveiled at Mills College

A new postage stamp dedicated to the first black woman ever elected to Congress was unveiled at Mills College in Oakland Saturday morning.

Congresswoman Barbara Lee unveiled the limited-edition 37th Black Heritage Forever Stamp dedicated to Shirley Chisholm.

Chisholm was elected to Congress in 1968 and ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1972.

She died in 2005 at her home in Ormond Beach, Florida at the age of 80.
