The pursuit ended in Richmond right off I-80 at the Carlson Boulevard off-ramp when the driver lost control of the black Crown Victoria and slammed into a light pole. The driver tried to run, but officers caught him and placed him under arrest.
The highway patrol says they called off the chase moments earlier after spike strips left the suspect car riding on its rims. So far, no word on why the man was being chased.
