Fire put out at night club in San Jose

SAN JOSE

Workers reported the fire as they were closing up just after 1:45 this morning. They tried to put it out with extinguishers but were unsuccessful. Firefighters called out a full first alarm. When they arrived, they went in with hoses to make sure the fire didn't spread.

"We need to front load the incident... Because fires on average double in size every 5 minutes. So we need to make sure we have enough resources in place in the beginning," said San Jose firefighter Asha Wagner.

Here's a look at the damage from the inside. you can see the fire and the efforts to put it out made a mess in the back of the building. Firefighters couldn't determine the cause. Arson investigators are coming out later this morning to try to figure out what started the fire.

Firefighters told me it could be a few days before the owners will be able to open up the club to customers.
