A major development was unveiled Friday morning in the corruption case against State Senator Leland Yee and more than two dozen others.

A federal grand jury has officially indicted the 29 defendants with charges ranging from political corruption to gun trafficking.

Yee is personally charged with seven counts of agreeing to import guns and arrange preferential treatment for undercover FBI agents posing as campaign supporters.

The indictments contain no new charges, and federal agents didn't wait for the grand jury to act. Instead, they arrested the suspects last week out of fear that they may try to escape.
