RIO DELL, Calif. -- A preliminary-magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck just off the coast of Northern California on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake, whose epicenter was located 37 miles south of Eureka, occurred at 10:33 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, the USGS said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
