San Jose police say man fatally shot by officers wanted to die

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose police say the man who officers fatally shot on Wednesday wanted to be killed.

Investigators say officers shot at 23-year-old Phillip Watkins after the suicidal man charged at them with a knife inside a San Jose home.

Police said this morning Watkins was the one who called police reporting the intruder.

The incident remains under investigation.
