Getting food delivered, or finding good take out on Super Bowl Sunday can be difficult, but it can be done if you know a secret.

Super Bowls and pizza just go together, but it is not always a match made in heaven.

Ever order a pizza during the Super Bowl and have it arrive after the game ends. That is what you are up against Sunday. But if you pre-order Friday night or even Saturday you will probably be in good shape, but wait till Sunday and you may find yourself eating chips out of a bag.

"On Super Bowl days it is really hard to get that pizza delivered. Usually there is a big crush of people ordering at the same time," said Jessica Goldman, a San Francisco resident.

Pizza makers and other restaurants featuring food delivery and take outs are overwhelmed during the Super Bowl.

The industry knows that and has a plan,

John Earl is the general manager of Chili's in San Bruno. He's showed some of the platters that can be delivered.

The secret? Pre-order your food. At Chili's you don't even have to pre-order all the early.

"As long as you give us a call at 10 a.m. or before 10 a.m. we can have it delivered to your door step," Earl said. "You can pick the time, either call us or order online and select your time and we will have it there."

Sushi Confidential in downtown Campbell is offering pre-orders for takeout on Super Bowl Sunday and the restaurant isn't even officially open then.

"We are going to close Super Bowl Sunday, but we are going to offer Super Bowl sushi platters. We've done this over the past few year," Randy Musterer, of Sushi Confidential said.

"You can actually order up until Saturday evening," Musterer said. "We are open till 11:30 p.m., so I will be on my email and phone the entire time and putting in those last minute orders."

If you want to cook your own food or get a Costco pizza delivered, Instacart, the one hour grocery delivery service, might work for you.

Last year's Super Bowl Sunday was one of it's biggest days ever.

"You can pre-order and place your order for Sunday at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. at whatever time you like," said Michelle Suwannukul of Instacart.

Candace Rosales is an Instacart personal shopper, she is the one who actually picks out the pizza and brings it to you.

"The benefit of shopping with us is you go to Costco, order it through your app and we have pizza delivered to you within an hour, so it is pretty rad," Rosales said.

Instacart and many other restaurants, including Chili's say you can call during the game and they'll get the food to you, but you are living dangerously on the edge.
