Takeaway of the Day

The winds are starting to increase and they will get stronger late tonight and switch directions coming out of the north, which will dry out our atmosphere.

A Red Flag Warning goes up for all of the Bay Area except the Marin and Sonoma County coast from 11 p.m. tonight until 5 p.m. Saturday. North-northeasterly winds will gust up to 50 mph with isolated areas up to 65 mph and the humidity will lower to 9%.

With critically dry vegetation, the fire danger will be high. A Wind Advisory goes up for the hills and the East Bay valleys at 11 p.m. tonight and it will stay up until Saturday. Gusty winds could knock out power for some people and take down tree limbs.

The fire danger remains elevated going into Saturday morning. Sunny skies and mild to warm weather will greet you Sunday and the winds will be lighter.
