Takeaway of the Day
Today is Day 6 of our current heat wave, with the highest temperatures ranging from 100 to 105 inland, 92 to 97 near the bay, and near 80 degrees on the coast.
And an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING is in effect for most of the Bay Area until 11 p.m. tomorrow, and that warning includes the city of San Francisco until 11 p.m. tonight. Intense heat like this significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, and of course, elevates fire danger.
The Look Ahead
We can expect two more days of this excessive heat tomorrow and Monday, but a much cooler pattern will develop on Tuesday and continue through the remainder of next week. Until that cooling arrives, however, it's important to remember a few tips for staying cool and healthy. We are advised to drink lots of fluids, preferably water; seek shade when outdoors or air conditioning indoors when possible; and never leave people or pets in cars.
