OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Police and businesses are cleaning up following a protest against police brutality that led demonstrators through Oakland and onto I-880. The demonstration was held to protest the fatal shootings of black men by police officers in Minnesota and Louisiana.
Protesters shut down both directions of Interstate 880 near the Broadway exit and set off fireworks on Thursday evening. The group started at Oakland police headquarters and marched towards city hall. The protest was in solidarity with the two black men shot and killed by police in Louisiana and Minnesota.
