All but 15 of 1,290 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers initially affected by a power outage in San Francisco Tuesday night had power restored around midnight, a company spokesman said today.

The outage occurred at 7:36 p.m. and left 1,290 customers in the city's Park Merced neighborhood in the dark for nearly five hours, according to PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi.

Underground equipment failure was determined to have caused the outage, Guidi said.

There is no estimated time when the remaining 15 customers will have their power restored, according to Guidi.
