Broccoli may lower cancer risk

Men who eat broccoli just a few times a week may have a lower risk of prostate cancer, British researchers have said.

Scientists at the Institute of Food Research have found that a chemical in broccoli sparks hundreds of changes in human prostate tissue.

They compared men who ate green peas to those who ate broccoli for a year. The men with a broccoli-rich diet seemed to show increased protection.

The study is in the Public Library of Science genetics journal.
