Library celebrates 100th birthday

The San Rafael Library will celebrate its 100th birthday this month with a reenactment of its original dedication and a community party with horse-drawn carriage rides.

A bagpipe prelude with start at 12:30 p.m. on January 25. Staff and volunteers will be dressed in period costume and will host sing-alongs.

The reenactment starts at 3 p.m. in the library's reading room.

The free event, sponsored by the Carnegie Centennial Celebration, will be held at the library, 1100 E St. in San Rafael.
