Migraines linked to mental disorders

New research suggests that people suffering from migraine headaches may be at increased risk of having mental health disorders.

Canadian researchers studied thousands of adults and found that those with migraines were more likely to have depression, panic attacks, and phobias.

In a majority of the cases, patients said they had headaches before their mental health problems, suggesting migraines could be a signal of problems to come.

The research appears in the latest issue of General Hospital Psychiatry.
