Pedestrian killed on Highway 101

A person was fatally struck by a minivan while walking across southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 11:05 p.m. on Highway 101 just south of Cesar Chavez Street, according to CHP Officer Aaron Quistad.

The person, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Quistad said. No other injuries were reported.

The crash blocked the two left lanes of the highway for just over an hour, according to Quistad.

A Sig-alert was issued at about 11:20 p.m. and was canceled at about 12:25 a.m. Monday when the lanes were reopened, Quistad said.
