Medical pot advocates in SF court

Advocates of medical marijuana will be in a San Francisco federal court Tuesday to argue against the U.S. government's position that marijuana "has no currently accepted use in medical treatment."

The group Americans For Safe Access filed a lawsuit in 2007 demanding that federal officials correct their statements on medical marijuana. The ASA is using a little-known law called the Data Quality Act to challenge the government's position.

It requires federal agencies to rely on sound science when disseminating information to the public.
