The 16th annual FanimeCon wrapped up Monday at the McEnery Convention Center. An estimated 15,000 people showed up for the three day event.

The convention is for fans of Japanese cartooning and animation, including popular video games.

Many of the attendees dress up as their favorite anime character.

"Basically, you get to be somebody you're not; it doesn't hurt anyone, it's a lot of fun and there's a lot of skill that goes into all of these costumes," attendee Rachel Barker from San Diego said.

The fanime convention has been held at various locations in the Bay Area but will return to San Jose for next year's event.
