Nurses to walk off job for H1N1 protection

Nurses warn they'll walk off the job statewide next Friday, unless they receive more protection from the H1N1 flu.

The strike threat targets 34 hospitals including 28 operated by Catholic Health Care West.

That chain includes Redwood City's Sequoia Hospital along with St. Francis and San Mary's hospitals in San Francisco.

The California nurses association claims CHW hasn't provided enough access to protective masks after a nurse in Sacramento died from H1N1 in July.

CHW insists it takes patient and staff safety seriously.
