Several dozen people have complained to the automaker and federal safety officials about a delay in braking after they apply the brake pedal, especially when going over bumpy roads.
The complaints have come primarily from owners of the 2010 model Prius.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Board says it is aware of the issue, but has not opened a formal investigation.
