The man fell feet first into the 36-inch wide slot around 8:30 a.m.
After hitting bottom, he was then hit by a bucket filled with concrete debris.
It took the San Ramon Valley Fire District rescue team a little over an hour to get the man out.
He was sent to the hospital with injuries to his neck and back.
