Thousands of hens were found dead or starving in Central California.

There were 50,000 hens that were discovered on a chicken ranch in Turlock after a neighbor complained about the business.

A third of them died of starvation and the rest are in such poor condition they will have to be euthanized. The ranch is rented by A&L Poultry.

Stanislaus Animal Service officials say the owner will likely face animal neglect charges.
