The uncertainty motivated some people to arrive at the station by 2:45 a.m. in order to assure themselves a seat on the free shuttle to San Francisco.
The process became smoother later in the morning as commuters walked up and boarded buses without having to wait in line.
"Pleasantly surprised. I'm glad there's this option. So, it wasn't, I didn't know what to expect so I'm just following all the people at this point," said Brooks Burtch of Clayton.
"Well, I was actually expecting a long line so actually, I'm quite happy. So, hopefully this doesn't last too long," said Latasha Hilliard of Walnut Creek.
BART supplied a total of 58 busses picking up passengers at four East Bay locations. Passengers were given tickets so they can catch the same ride home Monday afternoon.
