They'll be performing in London's New Year's Day parade. Organizers have invited Pittsburg and Oak Grove High School marching bands to take part in their annual iconic event. The Pittsburg band boarded buses on Friday to catch a flight bound for England's capital city.
"It's really a big deal, you know not only for what our accomplishments are, but for these kids. Most of them have never been on an airplane and that this is their first plane ride will be international you know to London," said Jennifer Martinez, a former Pittsburg band member.
Oak Grove marching band members, from San Jose, will soon be joining the Pittsburg band in the U.K. for the 2014 celebration.
London's New Year's Eve Parade draws hundreds of thousands of spectators and millions of TV viewers.
