Mountain lion DNA found in Pescadero home after family dog stolen
DNA tests prove a mountain lion got inside a Pescadero home and stole a family dog from the bed where it was sleeping with its owners.

PESCADERO, Calif. (KGO) -- DNA tests prove a mountain lion got inside a Pescadero home and stole a dog from a bed where people were sleeping.

Wet paw prints and a drop of blood were left behind. Forensic tests found a mix of dog and mountain lion blood. The 15-pound dog, named Lenore, hasn't been found.

A week ago, the family left a door open for fresh air while they slept. They heard the dog barking, then she was silent. The state's department of fish and wildlife emphasizes mountain lion behavior like this is extremely rare.
