San Francisco Trader Joe's shoppers decided to check each other out before the checkout line for a Valentine's Day dating event Thursday.
"It can be daunting and overwhelming if you try to calculate what you have to sell to make that worthwhile," says one store's general manager, but with the rampant theft that's been going on, it's a price he's willing to pay. He's been held at gunpoint before and wants to keep everyone safe.
Even being filmed by multiple people, including security, the thief wasn't discouraged. The man got away with a garbage bag full of items on a Lyft bike that he rode down the aisle and out the front door.

"These boarded up stores are depressing. I long to sit down in a restaurant again, get my hair cut again, go to the art supply store again. But until that happens, we might as well use these boards as a canvas of art," fnnch shared in an Instagram post.
The general manager of Doppio Zero estimates about $5,000 was in the safe.
