One-alarm fire at San Jose office building

SAN JOSE, CA

The blaze was reported at 12:28 a.m. at 180 Rose Orchard Way, San Jose fire Capt. Steve Alvarado said. Firefighters remained on scene for at least three hours extinguishing hot spots and waiting for the smoke to clear out, according to Alvarado.

An automatic indoor sprinkler system extinguished most of the flames, but in turn caused extensive water damage, Alvarado said.

The building's second floor sustained the majority of damage from the fire, water and smoke, according to Alvarado.

Lithium batteries may have been involved in the fire, Alvarado said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear suspicious, Alvarado said.
