The government-owned company Czech Invest celebrated the opening of its office Monday at the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale.

It is going to seek business opportunities for Czech companies and try to attract U.S. tech companies to the Czech Republic.

"When the American companies see here what we have going on they might think, 'Oh, there is a place called the Czech Republic, oh they have some amazing software engineers, oh why should we not consider it as a good location for our possible project,'" Czech Invest spokesperson Lenka Kucerova said.

Companies including Hewlett Packard, Honeywell and Sun Microsystems are already operating in the Czech Republic.
