Tanker crash forces closure of Highway 1

JENNER, CA

The diesel tanker overturned on its side at around 10 p.m. and prompted the lane closures amid fears that its load of fuel might have caused a hazardous materials spill.

Nothing leaked from the tanker onto the highway, CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said. The tanker continued to block traffic because salvage equipment necessary to transfer the load of fuel and safely upright the truck took several hours to get there.

A Sig-alert issued at around 5:20 a.m. today was canceled at 11:30 a.m., Cakebread said.

No one was injured in the crash.
