Presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee isn't apologizing for his decision to take time off the campaign to give a paid speech.

Huckabee told reporters that he earns his living through writing and speaking and has to pay his mortgage like everybody else.

The Republican hopeful is scheduled to campaign in Wisconsin through Friday morning and then travel to the Cayman Islands for a speech Saturday to a group of young professionals. Huckabee says the event has been on his calendar for months.

He'll return to Wisconsin Sunday for more campaigning in his bid to upset Arizona Senator John McCain in the primary on Tuesday. McCain has an insurmountable delegate lead.
