The opening ceremony for the branch, located along a curve of Belmont Slough, will feature costumed book characters, live music, book-making activities, story time and refreshments.
Later this fall, the Environmental Interpretive Center, attached to the library, is scheduled to open. It will offer community members an interactive education about local sloughs, wetlands and the Bay, city officials said.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at the library, located at 399 Marine Parkway.
