Hot persimmon cider recipe:
Serve in Latte Glass
- 1/4 oz Nocino della Christina
- 1/4 Fuyu Persimmon - chopped
- 2 oz Apple Juice
- Grated Cinnamon
- Grated Nutmeg
- Add Apple Juice,
- Persimmon
Procedure:
Rum to Latte Glass
Steep with Hot Water
Float Nocino dell Christina
Grate Cinnamon and Nutmeg on top
Garnish with dried persimmon wheel
You can add 1 1/2 oz Rum if you'd like an adult beverage.
Frutto frezzante recipe:
Served in a flute with fresh fruit garnish
- Dry Prosecco
- Fresh fruit puree
- Mix to taste
Toys for Tots Event:
Larkspur restaurants will be donating 25% of their night's revenue to Toys for Tots.Larkspur, as you may not know, has 23 properties (3 of which are right here in Union Square, 2 in the Silicon Valley, one in Tiburon and one in Monterey, to name the Bay area ones) and 6 restaurants (most famous one is Kuleto's.) This year, despite the slumping economy, they are going to great efforts to give back to the community with their "Toys for Tots" program.
This program (which kicked off Nov. 1st and will run through Dec. 31at, 2008) is a great example in how the company is encouraging people in the community to help give back by donating toys for children in need and also monetary donations. They are working this program into every facet of their business, by asking people to donate in person, online when they make a reservation, at Kuleto's restaurant, and also from their own employees.
As a proud participant in this charity, every hotel lobby will DISPLAY all collected toys- which is something most hotels are not especially keen to doing, and will donate all money and items collected by the end of the year.

Hunter Leigh, Bar Manager of Kuleto's Italian Restaurant, has been working at the Union Square hot spot since 2006. Leigh has made his mark on the San Francisco cocktail scene with his organic and sustainable practices by creating a unique organic cocktail menu and overseeing the greening of the bar, which boasts almost zero waste. "I like exposing people to new ideas. Being on the forefront of green drinking, we have a chance to push people into a new place, expose them to ingredients and methodology that they might not have encountered before" says Leigh. Earlier this year, Leigh had the opportunity to help open Bar Norcini, an Italian wine bar and café adjacent to Kuleto's in the Villa Florence lobby.
