Research company to establish HQ in SF

Health sciences research company SPIRM announced plans Wednesday to establish its world headquarters in San Francisco, a move that will bring 20 new jobs to the city.

Officials from the company joined Mayor Gavin Newsom at City Hall for the announcement.

They first met in Shanghai last year on a trip to bolster San Francisco's economic ties with Asia.

"We were looking for a place that could serve our Asian business and strong, emerging business presence in Latin America, that was important to us," SPIRM spokesperson Michael Shleifer said.
