Trenam, 58, died at 8:20 p.m., according to the Sonoma County coroner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. Trenam had been on life support and was in critical condition Monday.

Santa Rosa police are still investigating the crash between the wheelchair and a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse at the intersection of Range Avenue and Guerneville Road around 6 a.m. Friday.

Antonio Salano Villa, the 24-year-old Santa Rosa man who was driving the Mitsubishi, left the scene of the collision but returned with his father and voluntarily gave a blood sample at police headquarters, Sgt. Lisa Banayat said. Police found one of the Mitsubishi's license plates at the scene.

Villa was westbound on Guerneville Road in the No. 1 lane when he struck the wheelchair, which was southbound in the east crosswalk of Range Avenue, police said.

A passing truck driver found Trenam in the road.
